Client Advocacy Program

You Don’t Have to Navigate Healthcare Alone

A serious diagnosis. A hospital stay. An aging parent. Multiple specialists. A complicated treatment plan. An insurance problem. Questions that never seem to get answered.

Healthcare can become confusing and overwhelming for anyone.

AAYHA’s Client Advocacy Program (CAP) provides personalized, clinician-led healthcare advocacy for individuals and families who want an experienced professional in their corner.

We help you understand what is happening, prepare the right questions, communicate with healthcare providers, coordinate next steps, overcome barriers, and make informed decisions with greater clarity and confidence.

When Could a Healthcare Advocate Help?

You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from an advocate.
You may want help if you or someone you love is
Facing a new or serious diagnosis
Preparing for or recovering from a hospitalization
Managing a chronic or complicated medical condition
Seeing multiple doctors or specialists
Caring for an aging parent or family member
Confused about medications, tests, medical records, or treatment options
Struggling to get questions answered
Dealing with insurance, billing, medication-cost, transportation, or access issues
Trying to coordinate care among multiple providers
Feeling overwhelmed or unsure what to do next

Healthcare complexity—not income or background—is what creates the need for advocacy.

Having an experienced advocate beside you can make the healthcare journey easier to understand and manage.

How We Can Help

Every client’s situation is different. Your advocacy plan is based on your needs, priorities, and goals.

Understanding Your Healthcare

Helping you better understand diagnoses, treatment options, medications, test results, medical records, and information provided by your healthcare team.

Preparing for Appointments

Helping organize questions, concerns, records, medications, and other information so you can make better use of your time with healthcare providers.

Appointment Support

When appropriate, an advocate may participate in medical appointments in person or virtually to help you listen, ask questions, understand information, and keep track of next steps.

Care Coordination

Helping organize communication, appointments, referrals, follow-up care, medical records, and information among healthcare providers.

Insurance, Billing & Access Barriers

Helping you understand insurance or billing issues and identify resources related to medication affordability, transportation, medical supplies, and other barriers that may interfere with receiving care.

Eldercare & Care Transitions

Helping individuals and families navigate concerns involving aging, home health, rehabilitation, assisted living, discharge planning, and transitions between levels of care.

Finding Resources

Helping identify healthcare and community resources appropriate to your circumstances and connecting you with trusted organizations when additional assistance is needed.

We Work for You

Some organizations want to do more.

We do not work for your hospital, physician, insurance company, or healthcare system.
Our responsibility is to you.
We listen to your concerns, help you understand the information available to you, and work with your healthcare team when appropriate so your questions, priorities, and voice are heard.
We do not make healthcare decisions for you.
Our role is to help you become better informed, better prepared, and more confident making decisions for yourself or someone you love.

Clinical Knowledge. Human Support.

Healthcare advocacy is more than making phone calls or providing a list of resources.
AAYHA combines

Clinical understanding

to help make complicated healthcare information easier to understand.

Independent advocacy

focused on your needs, concerns, and priorities.

Preparation

so you can ask better questions and participate more effectively in appointments and healthcare decisions.

Coordination

to help manage information, providers, referrals, and next steps.

Follow-through

because identifying a problem or making a referral is not always enough.

Compassion

because difficult healthcare situations affect people and families—not just patients and medical records.

What Happens When You Contact Us?

Start With a Free 30-Minute Consultation

Tell us what is happening and where you need help. We will listen to your concerns, learn about your situation, and determine how AAYHA’s Client Advocacy Program may be able to assist you.

Develop Your Advocacy Plan

If you decide to move forward, we will discuss the advocacy services that may be helpful, explain applicable fees and options, provide the client agreement, and develop a plan based on your needs.

We Get to Work With You

Depending on your situation, advocacy may include education, appointment preparation or participation, communication with healthcare providers, care coordination, records assistance, resource navigation, insurance or access support, and follow-up.

The level and duration of advocacy depend on what you need.

What Does Client Advocacy Cost?

AAYHA’s Client Advocacy Program provides professional, clinician-led advocacy using an approach designed to make services accessible across different financial circumstances.

Fee-Based Advocacy

Most clients receive advocacy on a fee-for-service basis.

Depending on the services required, fees may be based on an hourly rate or another agreed fee arrangement. In some circumstances, fees may also take the client’s financial situation into consideration.

The services to be provided and applicable fees are discussed with you before an advocacy engagement begins.

Fee-Based Advocacy

As part of our nonprofit mission, AAYHA may also provide reduced-cost or no-cost Client Advocacy services to individuals who meet established financial or other eligibility requirements.

Eligibility may require documentation, such as proof of income or other information needed to determine qualification.

If you need an advocate but are concerned about affordability, we encourage you to contact us. Your options can be discussed during your initial consultation.

Medicare

Some clients and advocacy-related services may qualify for Medicare reimbursement when applicable Medicare eligibility, service, and program requirements are met.
Medicare reimbursement is not guaranteed. Eligibility depends on both the individual and the services provided meeting Medicare requirements.

“It’s the Help You Never Knew You Needed.”

Jennifer’s Story

When Jennifer’s father was diagnosed with cancer, everything changed.

She didn’t know what questions to ask, where to turn, or how to help.
Then her family found All About You Healthcare Advocates.

AAYHA walked beside them, helped explain what was happening, coordinated care, and gave the family greater confidence during one of the hardest times of their lives.

“They didn’t just help my dad — they helped our whole family.”

Serving New Jersey Individuals and Families

AAYHA primarily serves clients in Middlesex, Mercer, Union, Bergen, and Essex counties, with Middlesex County representing our largest service area.

Requests from other New Jersey communities may be considered based on the client’s needs, location, service availability, partnerships, and the type of advocacy requested.

Some advocacy services may also be provided virtually when appropriate.

What an AAYHA Advocate Does — and Does Not Do

AAYHA advocates help clients understand healthcare information, communicate more effectively, coordinate care, identify resources, overcome barriers, and participate more confidently in healthcare decisions.

AAYHA advocates do not replace your physician or other healthcare providers, diagnose medical conditions, prescribe treatment, or make healthcare decisions for you.

You remain in control of your healthcare decisions.

We help make sure you have the information, questions, support, and voice to make them.

Not Sure Whether You Need an Advocate?

That’s exactly what the initial consultation is for.
Tell us what you’re facing. We’ll listen, help determine what kind of support may be useful, and explain how AAYHA may be able to help.

No One Should Have to Navigate a Difficult Healthcare Journey Alone.

Individuals and organizations can also make a charitable contribution to help expand AAYHA’s work.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or seek emergency medical care. AAYHA’s advocacy services are not emergency medical services.

Your Support Helps Us Reach the Next Person.

A sponsorship is more than recognition on a website or social-media post.

It helps AAYHA put clinicians, education, health resources, navigation, and advocacy where they can make a difference.
