All About You Annual Health Fair 2024 was a Success!

A Heartfelt Thank You from All About You Healthcare Advocates

On behalf of the entire team at All About You Healthcare Advocates, we extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible community partners for making our event on September 28th at Calvary Chapel Crossfields Church a resounding success! 🌟

Despite the challenges we endured, your unwavering support was invaluable. We faced several obstacles, including inclement weather and the fact that many community members were unable to attend due to work commitments. During the event, we encountered individuals with dangerously high blood pressure who had not seen a clinician in over three years. Additionally, several single mothers with young children had not received postpartum follow-up care due to work constraints and lack of family support.
These issues weigh heavily on our hearts and underscore the significant need for our healthcare services, especially for our Latino and African American community members living in underserved areas. Through our outreach efforts, we have learned firsthand about the critical health needs and limited resources in Jamesburg, NJ, and nearby communities.

Highlights of the AAU Health Event

During our health fair, our dedicated team of volunteers and clinicians provided over twenty free health screenings for hypertension and diabetes, along with physical exams. More than half of those who received our services lack access to primary care services and health insurance. The poor weather did not stop our flow. 😉

Our Valued Partnerships and Community Impact

We are proud to collaborate with several esteemed organizations to enhance community health and well-being. Here are some highlights of our recent partnerships:

• RWJBarnabas Health: Koatiki Anderson and Emily Menjivar from the Health Care Navigator-Health Equity team arranged eight healthcare appointments for individuals without insurance, ensuring access to primary and OB/GYN care.
• RWJUH: Mahwish Chishti, MPH, Coordinator for Community Health Education, contributed significantly to our outreach efforts.
• Aetna: Erin Ludy and her team from Community Outreach and Development assisted four families with enrolling their children in the NJ Cover All Kids Medicaid plan.
• Saint Peter’s University Hospital COVID-19 Vaccine Program: Keyanna Meade provided essential health education on COVID-19 infection and vaccines.
• NAMI of New Jersey: Lisa Powell, MA, Outreach Director, shared valuable information on mental health awareness and resources for families in need.
• Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care: Susana Correia’s team offered insights into mental health awareness and support tools for families.
• Hackensack Meridian Health: Ana Martinez and her team conducted eight HIV screenings through the Early Intervention Program.
• Middlesex County Office of Health Services: Twyla Paige, Health Education & Community Health Improvement Plan Coordinator, provided guidance on nutrition and disaster preparedness.
