All About You Healthcare Advocates

Tanesha Owens is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner and Patient Advocate. She is the President and Founder of All About You Healthcare Advocates. She has been enthusiastic about caring for others for over two decades, ever since she decided to pursue a career in nursing. Throughout her nursing career, she has continued to advocate for her patients and their families, providing them with exceptional care.

In 2017, Tanesha was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder that left her paraplegic and blind. Despite her years of healthcare knowledge, she felt isolated and fearful. This experience motivated her to ensure that no one should feel that way or struggle to access healthcare and preventive life-altering treatment that can improve their health and quality of life. With the grace of God and months of ongoing intensive therapy and rehabilitation, Tanesha regained her vision and ability to walk again.

Tanesha’s husband is a remarkable four-time cancer survivor. Throughout his journey, Tanesha stood by his side as a fierce advocate, collaborating closely with his team of clinicians. Her unwavering commitment ensured that he received the finest care, where his voice was not only heard, but actively included in the decision-making process. This comprehensive approach prioritized both his emotional well-being and physical needs.
The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 instilled a great deal of fear in our communities, healthcare providers, and hospitals. Tanesha found herself advocating for her family, friends, and colleagues more than ever before. She began by lending a listening ear and providing moral support. Her role soon expanded to phone consultations, where she helped people understand their health and treatment options, collaborating with their care providers, and advising them on when to seek medical attention. Tanesha realized that having a patient advocate was crucial and made a positive impact on the mental and physical health of those she assisted.
Tanesha Owens established “All About You Healthcare Advocates” in 2021 to address health disparities that disproportionately affect individuals with limited resources and lack of health literacy. Her personal experience of living with a chronic illness has enabled her to fully comprehend the day-to-day struggles that may hinder someone from working and earning a living to provide for their family. The ability to obtain affordable, quality healthcare services, or pay for medications, can be challenging and have a devastating impact on whether one will seek healthcare at all. This is especially true for early health screenings that can detect a treatable medical condition and improve the trajectory of someone’s life. Tanesha is committed to making a difference in healthcare and attributes her ability to work and advocate for others to her faith and calling from God.

Beyond her professional achievements, Tanesha is an active member of her church, Calvary Chapel Crossfields in Jamesburg, NJ. Her strong faith is evident in her commitment to her family, as she is a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Tanesha’s dedication to improving patient experiences and outcomes in healthcare serves as an inspiration to everyone she encounters. Her compassion, resilience, and advocacy make her a true beacon in the field.

Tanesha’s career began over two decades ago as an RN. She worked bedside, serving and caring for patients. She took on the toughest roles and challenges with loving care, deeply inspired by her faith in God. She has held positions as an advanced nurse practitioner and hospitalist in internal medicine and family practice, and has practiced at numerous distinguished healthcare facilities, such as Saint Peter’s University Hospital, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, and Princeton Medical Center.

Through every aspect of her delivery of quality healthcare, Tanesha provided inspiration, hope, and leadership to others she worked with. Her experience in healthcare took on a different dimension after she became a patient herself and was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder in 2017. After successfully overcoming her health obstacles with rehabilitation and emotional support, she was driven to become an advocate for others struggling to seek quality healthcare treatment.

Tanesha completed her undergraduate degree at Seton Hall University with a BSN and completed her MSN degree at Rutgers University. She is fully licensed and accredited by the State of New Jersey, Board of Nursing as a Registered Professional Nurse and an Advanced Practice Nurse/Acute Care. She also holds various certifications, including ANCC, ACLS, BLS, and is a Certified DOT Medical Examiner.

She is a committed and active member of her church in her free time and strong in her faith. Tanesha is a loving wife, mother, and grandmother committed to a quality of life with her family.
